Slowing Down and Listening to Your Skin

Beauty in the Eyes of a Skin Specialist

Dr.Thong said that she chose to specialize in dermatology because she puts personal emphasis on visual perception. When a skin specialist sees imperfect skin, it is difficult not to commit the occupational sin of striving to make that person’s skin perfect. Yet from a doctor’s perspective, as long as the skin is healthy, it will have a natural shine that is enhanced with self-confidence.

A “Faceless Boy” Regains His Smile

Dr.Kelly recalls that a young man once came to her clinic for pimple treatment. He always used to wear a mask, even in class, which earned him the label “faceless boy”. He was depressed during the prime of his early twenties. Even his teachers and classmates had never seen how his face looked like. After a period of therapy, his pimples were healed, so he finally had the courage to take off his mask and boldly face others. He happily told Dr.Kelly, “My female classmates say that now they finally know what I look like!”. His whole personality became more open and confident. Dr.Thong felt very moved seeing this young man’s transformation, and was thus all the more convinced that skin health and confidence are deeply intertwined.
